Senators, a local community, celebrates milestone

All 229 homes on Gills Neck Road in Lewes sold
April 22, 2016

The beginning of April marked an exciting end to a three-and-a-half-year long journey for Jack Lingo Asset Management and the team at Schell Brothers. Senators, located on Gills Neck Road in Lewes, is officially sold out. This community was projected to be a six-year project, and with the last home site selling April 2, that timeframe was nearly cut in half.

The collaboration between JLAM, owner/developer, and Schell Brothers, the builder, is what truly propelled Senators to be the best selling community at the beach. When Senators launched in September, 2012, it was an open cornfield with illustrations to help buyers envision the look of the community, entranceway and streetscapes.

It wasn’t long before the vision turned into a reality. JLAM’s commitment and dedication to create a beautiful community with extensive landscaping, a well- appointed clubhouse and pool, and trees that lined the entire neighborhood, coupled with Schell Brothers’ innovative home plans, desirable curb appeal, and established reputation created a partnership that was destined for success.

“Senators was really a team effort between us and JLAM,” said Chris Schell, CEO of Schell Brothers. “The community appears to have been a success for everyone including the homeowners. The homeowners love the community and have a lot of fun with each other. My in-laws live in Senators and their social calendar is busier than mine was in college.”

Senators became a huge draw for both locals and out of state residents. In just the first three months after sales were launched, the team at Schell Brothers sold 37 homes. “This was the first time that Schell and JLAM worked together on a community, and it went very well,” said Nick Hammonds of JLAM. “Working with all of the folks at Schell Brothers has been a great experience.”

Now that all 229 homes are sold, the camaraderie among the homeowners will only get stronger. They have created a true sense of community with a variety of activities that include weekly happy hours, biking and walking groups, yoga classes, and even book clubs. Senators is bustling with activity.

“It’s nice to witness how quickly friendships have formed among the homeowners. The Senators homeowners are true ambassadors of the Schell Brothers culture of happiness,” continues Schell. “We also want to acknowledge the incredible support we’ve received from our local realtors. Many of our buyers were brought to us by realtors.”

New home construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
