Shannon Christie Keith, had remarkable career
Shannon Christie Keith, 47, of Lewes, and formerly of Old Forge, Pa., passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, following a valiant battle with cancer. Her loving wife, Michelle Kelly, survives.
She was born Sept. 8, 1977, in East Stroudsburg, Pa., daughter of Joseph Marino (and companion Kathleen Eva Reviello), of Old Forge, Pa., and the late Candace Brodhead Marino. Shannon was a 1995 graduate of Old Forge High School. Shannon also graduated from Marywood University with both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in arts, media, and communication. She also earned a master of fine arts degree in digital cinema from National University. To earn that degree, she wrote, produced, directed, and filmed a movie called “Glass House,” which was her graduate thesis.
Shannon had a remarkable and storied career. She initially worked for the Scranton Times and was the editor for the Triboro Banner newspaper. She then moved to Harrisburg, Pa., where she worked at the Democratic Caucus. She later became the director of digital content, strategy, and media relations for the Delaware House Democrats. She was also a professor of Arts, Media, and Communications at Keystone College, Southern New Hampshire University, University of Scranton, and Luzerne County Community College. Shannon also was the sound director for several bands in the Delaware area.
Shannon was a parishioner of All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Rehoboth Beach, where she belonged to its parochial vestry.
Surviving, in addition to her wife and father, are her brother, Matthew Keith (wife Lisa) of Bangor, Pa.; her sister, Samantha Marino (fiancé Mark) of Old Forge, Pa.; her stepson, Joshua Kelly (wife Lauren), and their three children; and her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Shannon’s Celebration of Life at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. A fellowship gathering will follow in the parish hall.
