Shore Democrats host O’Mara

The Shore Democrats met Jan. 17 at Bear Trap Dunes Country Club in Ocean View.

Following the business meeting and lunch, two speakers shared their insights. Collin O’Mara is president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, and he served for five years in Gov. Jack Markell’s cabinet as secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. O’Mara has entered the Democratic primary race for Delaware governor. He shared his vision for Delaware with the Shore Democrats, which centers on improving the economy, education and environment, and promoting equitable access to housing, healthcare and public safety.

Dr. Jay Owens, Indian River School District superintendent, also shared time with the group and spoke with pride of the school district’s academic accomplishments as well as its plans for the future. 

The Shore Democrats meet at 11:30 a.m., the third Wednesday each month at Bear Trap Dunes, 7 Clubhouse Drive, Ocean View. New members are welcome. For more information, go to shoredemocrats.com.
