Shore View Personalized Medical Care welcomes new provider

December 17, 2024

Dr. Uday Jani recently announced Sumer Walker, NP, has joined Shore View Personalized Medical Care, his concierge integrative medicine practice based in Milton.

A Delaware native, Walker brings strong clinical skills and experience in patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning to the practice, as well as a shared passion for preventive medicine. Walker’s compassionate, holistic focus reflects Jani’s belief that prescribing a pill is not the first, and rarely the best, approach to optimizing health.

“There’s nothing more important to me than caring for the whole person, not just giving medication or treating the disease state. Understanding the root cause of a patient’s issues requires a willingness to explore everything that impacts their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health,” Walker said.
”However, there is rarely time in a traditional practice to dig deeply into each patient’s issues. I’m so grateful that Dr. Jani’s concierge model allows all the time we need to compassionately listen and learn our patients’ stories.”

Since the 2013 launch of Shore View Personalized Medical Care, the first concierge medicine practice in downstate Delaware, Jani has utilized an evidence-based, integrative approach to facilitate each patient’s innate healing response.

“Demand for our blend of traditional, integrative and functional medicine has grown tremendously in the community over the last decade,” said Jani. “As we expand, thoughtfully and conscientiously, Sumer’s support will be essential in enabling us to continue caring for patients in this uniquely personalized way.”

Walker will also add a new perspective to women’s health at Shore View, with expertise in managing the transition to menopause and beyond. “A holistic approach to menopause is not easy to find in our community, and that can make a real difference in enhancing women’s well-being throughout this important life stage,” she said.

Walker’s other special interests include weight-loss treatments, and nutrition and management for diabetes, obesity and other chronic conditions, all with an emphasis on preventative health and patient education.

“I’m truly excited about working with Dr. Jani to develop additional opportunities for educating and empowering patients, both at the practice and in the community,” said Walker. “It’s a privilege to help advance the incredible following he’s built through his insightful presentations.”

Walker pursued her nursing education at Wilmington University in Dover, where she earned bachelor and master of science degrees in nursing, and post-master’s certification as a family nurse practitioner.

A board-certified internist for more than 30 years, Jani also completed a two-year integrative medicine fellowship at the University of Arizona through an internationally recognized program led by pioneering founder Dr. Andrew Weil.
