The signs say: Go to prom with me

Cape Henlopen High School student Tim Blackburn said girls expect a little more today when it comes to being asked to attend important events, such as prom.

So, the senior surprised his best friend since elementary-school days with a series of signs asking her to the May 7 event. Caroline Judge, also a senior, was greeted with the colorful signs April 6 near the entranceway to her home in Mallard Point near Lewes.

“Girls now expect you to ask them in a creative way,” Tim said.

She was quick to give him a “yes” answer.

Caroline, who gives Tim a ride to school every day, said she was touched by his surprise. “We had always planned to attend our senior prom together,” she said.

Tim just wanted to make sure it was special.

Both are active at Cape and find time to play two sports. Tim plays lacrosse and soccer, and Caroline plays lacrosse and field hockey.
