South Coastal Delaware AARP chapter offers trips
The South Coastal Delaware Chapter of AARP will offer a day trip to New York City Wednesday, May 22, and a four-day “I Love Lucy” adventure Monday to Thursday, June 10 to 13 to Jamestown, N.Y., and Erie, Pa., which will highlight landmarks associated with the comedic television show. A day trip to Washington, D.C., will take place Sunday, June 23. All trips are open to the public, and all travel is by motor coach.
The New York City excursion is a day on one’s own to visit the many attractions of the city. Cost is $76 for the motor coach and gratuities. The bus departs at 5:30 a.m. and returns to the parking lot near the Giant grocery store in Ocean View at approximately 11 p.m.
The “I Love Lucy” trip includes a visit to the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum and Center for Comedy, a guided driving tour of Jamestown featuring the homes where Lucy was born and lived her young life, a sightseeing dinner cruise on the Chautauqua Lake, and dinner and a comedy presentation at the Tropicana Nightclub, among many other attractions. Cost is $620 or $854 per person, based on double or single occupancy, respectively.
A trip to the nation’s capital affords the chance to see museums, art galleries, monuments, memorials and more. Cost is $50 per person and includes driver gratuities.
