Southern Delaware Rollergirls donate to Kent-Sussex Industries

August 6, 2017

The Southern Delaware Rollergirls, a group of philanthropic, community-minded women athletes, chose Kent-Sussex Industries Inc. as their charity of choice to receive proceeds of the 50/50 raffle held during their first home bout in May at the Dover Skating Center.

Not only was this a first-time donation from the Rollergirls, but it was also a first-time opportunity for KSI to experience a Roller Derby bout. KSI attendees learned some jargon and strategy behind skating, and skaters learned about the abilities within adults who have disabilities. By working together to encourage attendance and support, each group gained exposure in the community, and attendees met people they might not have met otherwise.

KSI is a nonprofit agency providing vocational training, employment, supported employment, community integration, transportation and day habilitation services to individuals with disabilities throughout Kent and Sussex counties.

To make a donation, mail to KSI, Attn: Alicia Hollis, 301 North Rehoboth Blvd., Milford, DE 19963, or go to www.ksiinc.org and click on the donate button. For more information, contact Alicia Hollis, KSI director of community relations, at 302-422-4014, Ext. 3015 or hollisa@ksiinc.org.
