Spring turkeys dominate in Sea Colony Turkey Trot

Austen Cave, 15, wins overall title in 16:46

The 14th annual Sea Colony Turkey Trot 5K Nov. 27, produced by the Seashore Striders in conjunction with Delaware Special Olympics, attracted 132 runners, with a heavy handful of those walking the course.

The race was won by Austen Cave, 15, from Delmar in 16:46. Cave was followed on the top of the leaderboard by Jacob Henry, 17, 19:37; Chris Stanley, 47, 19:43; David Reeder, 33, 20:11; and Patrick Donnelly, 14, 20:19.

The women’s race was won by Kennedy Hayward, 12, of Vienna, Va., in 21:01. Rounding out the top 5 on the women’s leaderboard were Katie Kuhlman, 11, 22:29; Bridget Hayward, 10, 22:59; Archer Larned, 38, 23:01; and Kate Donnelly, 15, 23:39.

The Hayward siblings’ times were Kennedy, 12, 21:01; Grant, 9, 22:33; and Bridget, 10, 22:59.

Jeremy Eglit, 24, walked and ran and won his age group in 42:25.
