Stella Economos Yiannatsis, longtime teacher

October 15, 2024
Stella Economos Yiannatsis, 93, of Rehoboth Beach, went to be with our lord Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024. Stella was born Monday, March 9, 1931, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Chester, Pa., daughter of Andrew and Lucretia Economos of Sparta, Greece.

Stella was raised in the Marcus Hook area of Pennsylvania and attended Saint George Greek Church in Media, Pa., always enjoying the traditional events held by the church.

Stella graduated from Rider College in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree in education. She briefly worked as a secretary for DuPont before starting a 25-year teaching career. Her first teaching position was at Ridley Township High School, and close to 70 years, later she remained in communication with past students.

In 1965, she traveled to Greece and met her husband, Demos Yiannatsis. Together they owned and operated a business on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk until they retired in 1995. Stella loved traveling and spending time with her family, her brother, Pete (Joan) Economos of Lewes; and her many nieces and nephews.

She will be deeply missed by her family, especially her daughter, Victoria; her son-in-law, Allen; and her two grandsons, Bodhi and William.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 W. Ridge Road, Linwood, Pa.
