Steven Mehaffey, auto body retiree
Steven Mehaffey, 63, of Lewes, formerly of Lebanon, Pa., passed away at Delaware Hospice Center March 8, 2024. He was born Aug. 2, 1960, son of the late Martin and Estella Gertrude Mehaffey.
Steven graduated from Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pa., Class of 1978. There, he met and soon married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Weik) Mehaffey, whom he was blessed to grow alongside for the next 44 years they shared.
Steven made his career as an auto body technician for Frederick Chevrolet Dealership for over 30 years, from which he retired. He loved classic cars, especially Corvettes, owning one himself. Steven was a handyman and appreciated the outdoors. He combined those passions and used his creative genes to design and build outdoor spaces, where he could host parties and be fulfilled by watching family and friends enjoy themselves. He adorned his architectural spaces with beautiful, brightly colored flowers and plants that he took pride in landscaping. You could find Steven fishing or golfing in his spare time, but usually with Mary Ann, simply enjoying life. Above all else, Steven loved his family, especially his two prized grandchildren, Donovan and Ellie.
In addition to his parents, Steven is preceded in passing by his brother, Richard Mehaffey. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (Weik) Mehaffey; his two sons, Gary Mehaffey (Tracy) and Craig Mehaffey; his two grandchildren, Donovan and Ellie; his siblings, Martin Mehaffey (Jane), James Mehaffey (Sandra), Judy Mehaffey, Jody Dewald (Dean) and Joan French (Brett); along with many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and extended family who will miss him dearly.
A private celebration of Steven's Life will be held at a later date.
