Sun Behavioral Delaware opens new facility in Georgetown

Sun Behavioral Delaware held a ribbon cutting and open house at its newest facility March 19 in Georgetown.
The facility, which offers treatment for both adolescent and adult patients, treats anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, trauma, suicidal ideation, drug detox, substance abuse and more.
According to Sun Behavioral Health CEO Steve Page, Sun Delaware is moving its outpatient services to an expanded space to allow the facility to go from 40 patients to 100 patients.
Dan Thomas, chief operating officer of Sun Behavioral Health, said it will be a multidirectional approach.
“We are looking at people who need outpatient services, or partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient services, that will allow us to pair it with housing for those that are having difficulty being able to access those services in the community,” he said.
Congresswoman Sarah McBride said, “Throughout my time in office, I’ve heard from patients, providers and family members about the urgent need for the type of care and support this facility will provide to Delawareans. We’ve got some world-class inpatient facilities, like Sun Behavioral and their existing facility here in Georgetown. We’ve got individual therapists and psychiatrists, but we don’t have enough facilities providing outpatient mental health and addiction support. We certainly don’t have a facility like this that’s providing specific housing support for people struggling with addiction or mental health crisis.”
