Sussex Consortium students enrolled in an after-school arts program hosted a reception May 19 at Cape High to celebrate their work.
This year, 16 students participated in the Art Works for All art, music and movement after-school club held in cooperation with the Sussex Consortium and funded by the Carl M. Freeman Foundation FACES program.
Art Works for All, formerly known as VSA Delaware, is a nonprofit arts education organization dedicated to providing artistic opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
AWA began working with Sussex Consortium’s transitional education via an after-school artist residency in 2013. During the program, an AWA teaching artist works with participants to develop skills and build creative confidence. Weekly sessions include exposure to various mediums, including painting, printmaking and collage.
