Sussex County Master Gardeners workshops start Jan. 28
The Sussex County Master Gardeners will offer winter and spring workshops via Zoom and in person at the Carvel Center, 16483 County Seat Highway, Georgetown. The classes are free. Preregistration is required at udel.edu/0012759.
Participants will receive an email with a Zoom link/phone number and handouts 24 hours prior to the scheduled workshop.
Growing Native Plants from Seed will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28. Master Gardener Judy Pfister will discuss native plant pre-germination requirements as well as tips and techniques for both indoor and outdoor seed starting.
Master Gardener Bev Boies will present a talk on the Master Gardener program at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6. She will discuss the training program, volunteer opportunities and the application process.
Growing Citrus Indoors is set for 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25. Master Gardener Lesley Holland will share tips and strategies for how to grow citrus plants successfully in an indoor setting.
Garden Smart/Garden Easy will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 18. Master Gardener Maureen Ryan will explain what tools and techniques are available to assist gardeners as they age or develop mobility issues.
Container Gardening is the topic for 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 15. Master Gardeners Ana Dittel and Linda Peters will talk about types of containers, what to plant, soil, watering and maintenance tips, and how to add a splash of color to any limited outdoor space.
Master Gardeners are working volunteers supported by Delaware Cooperative Extension through the University of Delaware and Delaware State University Extension offices. Any attendees who have special needs to be accommodated should notify the office two weeks prior to the event.
