Sussex has always been a village

August 30, 2024

I have to say I don't know whether to take offense or feel bad for Barbara Walters. In her letter of Aug. 27, she did not appear to have an accurate take on what she referred to as Old Sussex. As far as I know, we have always been a village.

Before the invasion and destruction of our old Sussex, it was quite peaceful here. The population has always been diverse in this area. Everyone got along, because everyone knew each other. We all grew up together, were there for each other, bad times or good.

Guess that's not her idea of a village. Being born in Milford Hospital in the mid-‘50s, I believe I can speak for old Sussex when I say we have always been able to think for ourselves, keep up with politics and have a fair take on what has been going on the past 40 years in my home county. If she doesn't like our old Sussex vision of a village, maybe she should move on.
