At its Jan. 26 meeting, Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission approved the following plans:
A final site plan for Covered Bridge Inn, a wedding and special events venue, which consists of a 5-bedroom bed-and-breakfast inn, three barns, a maintenance building, patio, innkeeper's office and apartment, grassed event area and parking along Fisher Road near Lewes.
A revised preliminary plan for Long Neck Community Bank, which consists of a 3,200-square-foot bank, a 4,000-square-foot retail building and a 4-story, 18,000-square-foot mixed-use building with 16 apartments above. The project required a rezoning from AR-1 to C-2 commercial. Final approval by the commission is contingent on delineation of a cemetery on the parcel, which is located at the Route 5-Route 24 intersection in Long Neck.
A preliminary plan for American Storage of DE on Route 24 in Long Neck. The plan includes three storage warehouses, office space and RV storage totaling 150,000 square feet and five, 3-story, 28-unit apartment buildings with 140 units. The plan also includes a pool, clubhouse, parking area and playground. The final plan will be reviewed by the county planning and zoning staff.
An amenities plan for Atlantic East, formerly known as Terrapin Island, including a clubhouse, pool, covered porch and an open-space area. The community, approved by the commission on Sept. 21, 2022, includes 42 single-family home lots on 32 acres along Camp Arrowhead Road near Lewes.
An amenities plan for Plover Point, formerly known as Oak Landing, including a 4,000-square-foot volleyball and sand court, an 18,060-square-foot sports field, fire pit, picnic area, playground and ornamental pond. The subdivision, consisting of 147 single-family home lots on 60 acres on the southeast side of Oak Orchard Road, was approved by the commission June 24, 2021. The final plan will be reviewed by the county planning and zoning staff.
