Sussex Tech welcomes new school resource officer
Delaware State Police Cpl. Chase Petrella has joined Sussex Technical High School as the new school resource officer.
Petrella succeeds Cpl. Cheri Magda, who was recently promoted to sergeant at Troop 3, Camden.
Petrella’s Delaware State Police career began in 2014 when he was assigned to Troop 3 Patrol. He was transferred to Troop 7 Patrol in 2016, where he remained until 2021 when he joined the Indian River School District as SRO for Sussex Central High School.
Born and raised in southern New Jersey, Petrella, an avid Philadelphia sports fan, enjoys spending time with his family and is actively involved in his church. Petrella said he is looking forward to serving Sussex Technical High School with professional and compassionate law enforcement services to benefit both students and staff.
Sussex Tech is a public school that prepares Sussex County students in grades 9-12 for their future success in both higher education and workforce environments.
