Suzanne Lynn Misener, Sassy Chic owner

May 9, 2023

Suzanne “Lynn” (Foraker) Misener of Lewes died in a tragic vehicle accident Saturday morning, May 6, 2023. She was born in Wilmington, daughter of Donald J. Foraker Sr. and Suzanne G. (Foraker) Baird.

Lynn attended Harlan Elementary School before the family moved to Rehoboth Beach in 1967. She graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1975, where she was voted most dependable in her class. Lynn participated in the Rehoboth Junior High marching band and was in “Aunt Thelma’s Choir,” as well as on the Cape field hockey team. She excelled in business classes and continued her education at Brandywine College in Wilmington, where she earned her degree in accounting and finance. Lynn began her professional career working at the then-named Beebe Hospital in emergency room registration, eventually working her way to the business office. She advanced to billing supervisor and continued up to information systems, serving as project manager. After 37 years of employment at Beebe, she was offered a position as senior project manager at Delaware Health Information Network, and advanced to director of plans and programs before retiring in July 2022.

Lynn was passionate about everything she did in life. She was joyfully active in her children’s lives and activities, and could always be counted upon to drop whatever she was doing to jump in and help others in need. After using her artistic talents to make specialized place settings for a family Christmas dinner, she embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. The craft show circuit business, First State Sassy Glass, turned into a brick-and-mortar business, renamed Sassy Chic. All of Lynn's endeavors were marked by her trademark warmth, kindness, compassion, and strength, which will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Lynn was preceded in death by her in-laws “Buz” (1995) and Anna Misener (2022); and her paternal and maternal grandparents. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Keith Misener; her daughter Erica Misener (Bailey and Bella) of Lewes; her son and daughter-in-law Brian and Andrea Misener of Virginia; the latest sparkle in her eye, her grandson, Gavin Emmerick Misener; her mother and stepfather, Suzanne and Ralph Baird; her father and stepmother, Donald Sr. and Sharon Foraker; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald Jr. and Molly Foraker; her sister and brother-in-law, Tammy Foraker and Bill Austin; her nephew and niece, Ross and Tess; and her dear friends, the CHHS Class of 75 “The Posse,” including one of her BFFs since 12, Cyndi (Walls) Martin.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Henlopen Avenue, Rehoboth Beach. Bright-colored attire is totally acceptable, as Lynn loved a lot of color in her life.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
