Teen faces rape charges in connection with Boardwalk assault

July 10, 2024
A Maryland boy, 15, faces rape charges after an alleged sexual assault June 19 of a 15-year-old girl near the Boardwalk and Brooklyn Avenue.

Rehoboth Beach police patrolling the Boardwalk at 12:02 a.m. were contacted about a sexual assault, and spoke with the girl, who was taken to an area hospital where they were treated and released, police said.

Police said the two did not know each other, and the boy was no longer in the area. On June 28, police said warrants were issued for the Maryland boy, who returned to Delaware July 2 for arraignment at Sussex County Family Court. He was charged with second-degree rape and fourth-degree rape, and released on $20,000 secured bond. The boy was ordered by the court to stay out of Delaware, other than for court appearances.
