Their and Macha check all the boxes

August 2, 2024

This is a follow-up to a letter I wrote in June to the voters of Rehoboth Beach.

At that time, I urged my neighbors and fellow property owners to find out what viewpoint the four candidates in this year’s election have about no, the generally negative attitude many current commissioners have toward a balance of the three essential elements that make up this city – commercial, visitors and residents.

Indeed, I followed my own advice; I had contacts with all four candidates looking for the yes. And, based on my conversations, including two meet-and-greets I hosted, I’m ready to say I’ve found two definitely-maybe yeses.

It was clear at the Rehoboth Beach Homeowners’ Association forum that all four candidates express concerns for the three components that underpin the city’s makeup; however, Craig Thier and Rachel Macha offer the most balanced support for the three elements.

Both have been property owners for 20-plus years; both are highly experienced in managing businesses, which have specific application to city administration, and, most importantly, both have expressed positive support for specific issues in each of the three critical areas of commercial, visitors and residents.

While other candidates either lean heavily for one component or may find it challenging to work in collegial settings, Thier and Macha have experience in group decision-making and offer constructive suggestions for moving the city forward with a balanced approach.

If you’re voting – and it’s important that you do – I recommend Craig Thier and Rachel Macha.
