Theron Michael Williams, Bronze Star recipient
Theron “Ted” Michael Williams passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Delaware Veterans Home in Milford Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024.
Ted was born in Omaha, Neb., to the late Theron and Jean (Hughes) Williams May 7, 1947. After graduating from University of Nebraska, he married Mary Kay in 1969. Ted served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star, and continued his service in the National Guard through 1991, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Ted continued his education at Creighton University, earning his MBA.
Professionally, Ted worked in health insurance with a successful career that took the family from Omaha to Ohio, Minnesota, Virginia, Massachusetts, Illinois, and back to Minnesota before retiring to Delaware.
Ted was proud of his family and a fantastic father to his sons, Kevin and Patrick. Time spent with his four grandchildren was Ted’s greatest joy. Ted also loved riding the Peloton and running, having completed several marathons across the country, with his favorite being the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.
After moving to Delaware in 2014, Ted and Mary Kay enjoyed being involved together in the local community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Kay Williams; his two sons, Kevin (Nina) Williams and Patrick (Karen) Williams; four grandchildren, Maxwell Williams, Nicholas Williams, Alexander Williams and Lucy Williams.
A memorial service will be held with visitation from 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 21, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton, with a service beginning at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
