Thomas 'Boogie' Poulson, a quiet man
Quietly and peacefully our Almighty God in His infinite wisdom, mercy and grace gently called home Thomas William “Boogie” Poulson, 77, Monday, Oct. 20, 2014,.
Thomas was born Dec. 9, 1936. He was the eighth child born to the late Jessie Poulson Sr. and the late Margaret Taylor Bailey in Northhampton County, Va. His siblings: James A. Bailey, McKinley Bailey, Lillian Bailey, Charlie W. Poulson Sr. and Aaron Poulson all preceded him with their homegoing.
He attended the Northhampton County Virginia public school system. On April 22, 1961, he met and married the late Helen Marie Kellam. In the early '80s, he met the late Linda Hack. To this union, three children were born: Earl Hack, Tomasina Hack and Timothy Hack.
In the late '60s, he relocated to Rehoboth Beach. He was employed at Doxie’s Clam Factory in Lewes until he retired in 1986. Then he did various landscaping jobs to fill his idle time.
Everyone knew him by “Boogie.” He was a quiet man who loved to ride his bike and loved to walk daily when he was able. He enjoyed sports, and he loved being with his family and attending family reunions. He loved his “fried chicken and bread.” He did not care what kind of bread he ate as long as there was a piece on his plate.
Thomas is survived by three children: Earl Hack, Tomasina Hack and Timothy Hack; stepdaughter, Shelly Hack; two grandchildren, all of Rehoboth; four brothers, Leonard Smith Sr. (Hattie) of Millville, N.J., Jessie Poulson Jr. of Birds Nest, Va., Willie Bailey of Richmond, Va. and George Poulson of Belle Haven, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Sarah Bailey Lee of Machipongo, Va. and Rhynia Upshur of Birds Nest; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves behind a few special friends, Mr. Earl Frazier, Mr. Sherrod Whaley and Mr. Jerome Hitchens. A very special thank you to a very special and devoted niece, Ms. Diane Poulson for her loving care, kindness and thoughtfulness and dedication.
Services will be Saturday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. at Soul Saving Station, Norwood Street, Rehoboth, with a viewing, one hour before.
