Thomas Charles Williams, loved coastal living
Thomas Charles Williams, 62, of Long Neck, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023. He was born March 22, 1961.
Thomas graduated from Sun Valley High School in Aston, Pa., and received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
Tom loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew and niece whenever he could as they were growing up. Tom was a gifted artist, and received several awards for drawing and painting. He made friends wherever he went and enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. He loved history and the Delaware Shore.
Tom was an outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing and hunting.
Tom worked for Delaware Seashore State Park for several years. He was always proud of being a lifeguard at Indian River Inlet and for having been a 32nd Degree Mason.
Tom relocated to Central Florida, where he worked for Walt Disney World Company in the outdoor recreation department. He managed several employees, and watercraft, and assisted with rescues and special events.
In early 2000, Tom returned to the Delaware Shore and made his home in the Long Neck area. He worked as a bartender at various establishments including Grotto’s, Sandbar and Mulligan’s Pointe, to name a few. Most recently, he worked at WMF Watercraft and Marine in the boatyard. Tom enjoyed talking to people. When Tom was around, he usually brought a smile to everyone’s face and was well-known by many.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patricia K. Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his father, John C. Williams of Lewes; sister, Lynn K. Williams of Long Neck; nephew, Evan J. Bernardi of Davenport, Fla.; and niece, Emma L. Sanches and her husband Noel Sanches of Long Neck.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Tom’s name made to Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 759, Georgetown, DE 19947.
