Thomas L. Creekmore Sr., World War II veteran
Thomas L. Creekmore Sr. went into the wild blue yonder Monday, Dec. 19, 2022. He was born Dec. 7, 1923, in Portsmouth, Va., to Oliver M. Creekmore and Elizabeth Cooper Creekmore, who preceded him in death. His two wives, Barbara Hostetler Creekmore and Lorene Reed also preceded him in death. He is survived by his present companion, Rita Cleary D’Ascenzo of Rehoboth Beach.
He flew with the 8th Army Air Forces in World War II, and worked in the airline industry for 40 years, retiring from United Airlines in 1981. Thomas was an FFV (First Family of Virginia). His ancestor, Edmund Crickmore, came to the tidewater section of Virginia from Norwich, England, in 1648. Tom loved to sing and dance, and was in shows in Rehoboth Beach and Lewes. He was a history buff, and enjoyed wearing his World War II uniform and colonial attire at events and reenactments.
He leaves three children, Thomas L. Creekmore Jr. and his wife Joan, Donna Creekmore Medich and her husband George Medich, and Jay Creekmore and his late wife Mary. He also leaves three stepchildren, Dana Reed, Janine Reed and Brian Reed. He is survived by nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be no viewing or services.
