Thomas N. Stevens Sr., enjoyed repairing cars
Thomas N. Stevens Sr., 78, of Millsboro, departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024.
Thomas was born in Northampton County, Va., Aug. 28, 1945, to the late David Wadworth and Irene Elizabeth Stevens. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Jay Stevens.
He retired after working a total of 35 years with Holly Farms and Showell Farms, but then worked at Townsends in Millsboro for two years before retiring due to his illness. In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed working on the cars of friends and family, doing yard work, and watching soap operas with his wife Margaret, also known as Piggie.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Margaret Stevens of Millsboro; two sons, Thomas Stevens Jr. of Millsboro, and Shawn Stevens Sr. (Connie) of Millsboro; three daughters, Valerie Stevens of Millsboro, Cynthia Dorsey (Crawford) of Worton, Md., and Starr Beckett (Keyon) of Seaford. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Dayshawnta Godwin of Seaford, Kwame Stevens of Seaford, Jovon Townsend (Michele) of Georgetown, Aliyah Dorsey of Worton, Na’Jaya Beckett of Seaford, Keyon Beckett Jr. of Seaford, Shawn Stevens Jr. of Millsboro, and Javen Savage of Milton. He also leaves to cherish his memory two great-grandchildren, Jasper James Townsend and Karson King Townsend.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, with a viewing beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
