Thomas Wilson Berry III, dedicated to fire service

Thomas Wilson Berry III, 23, passed away unexpectedly in the line of duty Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, in Georgetown, leaving a legacy of service and dedication to his community. 

He was born March 13, 2001, in Milford, to his parents, Jayme (Argo) Romo and Thomas W. Berry II.

He graduated from Milford High School Class of 2019. Thomas was employed by Sussex County Paramedics, as a logistics tech. He was known for being hardworking with a remarkable work ethic, fun-loving, humble, and committed to his passion for the fire service.  “Little Tommy,” as he was known to his first responder brothers and sisters, was currently a member of Georgetown Fire Department Station 77 and Ellendale Fire Department Station 75. He also loved modifying pickup trucks. Most of all, Thomas loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas W. Berry Sr.

Thomas is survived by his mother, Jayme (Argo) Romo; father, Thomas W. Berry II (Heather); sister, Madison Berry (Timothy Jones); maternal grandparents, John Jr. and Connie (Wright) Argo; paternal grandmother, Mercedes Kramer (Bob); great-grandfather, John Argo Sr.; great-grandmother, Barbara Wright; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, in the sanctuary of Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, where a time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 10 a.m.  Interment will be at the Ellendale Cemetery, Ellendale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Thomas’s honor be made to any local fire company.  

Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
