Troop 95 wraps up scout year

July 8, 2023

Boy Scout Troop 95 of Georgetown has completed a program year full of outings and activities.

During the March campout at Gettysburg Battlefield, scouts hiked the Johnny Reb Trail and visited the Eisenhower Farm.

April found the scouts and leaders camping at Collins Pond Association Picnic Area. Along with fishing and canoeing, scouts worked on skills for rank requirements.

The troop headed to Camp Barnes for the May campout. Scouts worked on skills and played basketball, and several performed service hours for the camp. They cleaned out the garage, organized the bikes and tables, then carried all the kayaks and canoes down to the kayak rack which Anthony Mills rebuilt for his Eagle Scout project. Scouts spent some time paddling around the Assawoman Bay before heavy rains came. Sunday morning, scouts broke down camp, loaded the van, and attended chapel service by the waterfront before loading the bus and going home.

During the summer, scouts assist with Eagle Scout projects and volunteer at the Historic Georgetown Association train station helping with Lil’ Toot and welcoming guests.

For the 31st year, Troop 95 will head to Camp Horseshoe with 25 scouts and 10 leaders for a week of summer activities.
