Delaware Technical Community College's Owens Campus in Georgetown was on lockdown for an hour following a police chase Nov. 3.

Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe with Delaware State Police said there was a reported vehicle pursuit in the area that ended in the college’s parking lot and one suspect was apprehended. She said school officials locked down buildings as a precaution.

Delaware Tech spokesman Jason Burlew said the lockdown was lifted about 3:30 p.m.

Jaffe later reported the pursuit began about 2 p.m., when police tried to stop a vehicle on Route 9 west of Georgetown for a cell phone violation.

The driver, 20-year-old Nevell L. Jones of Laurel, fled the scene. Police tried to chase the vehicle and lost sight of it, but later found it unoccupied in the school’s parking lot.

Police arrested a passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Shaylan Hunt of Laurel, and are still searching for Jones.

Anyone with information regarding Jones's whereabouts is asked to call Detective S. Callaway at 302-752-3826 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333. Information also can be shared online at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
