UPDATE: Route 1 southbound lanes open north of IR bridge

Southbound lanes of Route 1 south of Dewey Beach are now open as DelDOT continues to assist DNREC to clear Route 1 northbound lanes north of the Indian River Inlet bridge. Northbound Route 1 traffic is closed at Fred Hudson Road north of Bethany Beach; drivers should seek alternate routes. Road closure occurred due to ocean flooding through a dune breach on the north side of the bridge. Officials said they expect to open one northbound lane later this morning.
