U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin to appear at Lewes library May 7
U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D- Md., will discuss his bestselling memoir “Unthinkable: Trauma, Truth and the Trials of American Democracy” during a special event presented by the Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at the library.
He will be joined in conversation by U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware.
In his searing memoir, Raskin tells the story of the 45 days at the start of 2021 that permanently changed his life – and his family’s – as he confronted the painful loss of his son Tommy to suicide, lived through the violent insurrection in U.S. Capitol, and led the impeachment process against President Trump for inciting the violence. Raskin discusses this convergence of personal and public trauma, detailing how the painful loss of his son and the power of Tommy’s convictions fueled the congressman’s work in the aftermath of modern democracy’s darkest day.
Tickets are $30 and include a signed copy of “Unthinkable,” with 20% of the ticket price donated to the Lewes Public Library. Additional signed copies of the book are available for purchase during registration. To purchase tickets, go to bit.ly/RASKIN_EVENT. Seating is limited.
