Vincent P. McCarron, faithful to church
Vincent P. McCarron, 95, of Ocean View, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Genesis Lofland Park Center in Seaford.
Vince was a native Washingtonian, born April 15, 1923, to the late John F. McCarron and the late Elizabeth (Jordan) McCarron. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his discharge he worked as a salesman in men’s clothing before his retirement.
Vince was a faithful member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, and also a member of the Men’s Club at the church. He was a member of Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View, where he also volunteered countless hours. Vince will be remembered as being a great storyteller of the Washington, D.C. area, and was also proud to say he was present at the first Redskins game in 1937.
In addition to his parents and eight siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Betty” E. McCarron in 2014; and a son, David J. McCarron. Vince is survived by two sons, Stephen P. McCarron and his wife Sarah Joyce-McCarron of Washington, D.C., and Vincent Sean McCarron and his wife Elizabeth Lynn McCarron of Gaithersburg, Md.; a daughter, Terri McCarron Lottmann and her husband Don Long of Lewes; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Vince’s name to St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930.
