Vogue on 24 Salon & Spa opened its doors Aug. 30 to provide free back-to-school haircuts for any child in need of a fresh style to start out the school year.
The salon was forced to shut down just three weeks after it launched in 2020 due to the pandemic, said Assistant Director Diane Warr.
“We’re grateful to still be here and wanted to do something for the community,” said Warr, who noted she was hoping for a big turnout and plans to hold the event every year just before school starts.
Warr said she approached owners Darren Tatum-Poole and Brandon Tatum-Poole about the idea, which she said they emphatically supported. Warr said she informed local school guidance counselors about the event so they could pass the word along to families, and stylists came in on a day the salon is closed to cut students’ hair for free.
“Every student deserves to feel beautiful and confident on the first day of school,” Warr said.
