The station will be known on-air as 83 Ocean City [Md.], and its program schedule will largely mirror the current WAMU 88.5 schedule, including the WAMU-produced, Peabody award-winning “The Diane Rehm Show” and NPR’s “Morning Edition,” “All Things Considered,” “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” and “Car Talk.” The station is also slated to include local content, including news, traffic, weather and civil discussion of public affairs.
“At a time when traditional media is under pressure to stay relevant, public media - with our focus on storytelling, analysis and in-depth coverage - has a great opportunity to build and grow the audience,” said WAMU 88.5 General Manager Caryn G. Mathes.
“WAMU 88.5 hopes to help existing Delmarva public media grow the audience for public radio with the launch of 88.3 Ocean City.”
