Warbird flights and tours open for June 18-19
Delaware Aviation Museum Foundation, based at the Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown, announced two of its latest warbird acquisitions – a Vietnam War Era L-19 Bird Dog and a Korean War Era L-16 – will be made available to the public for flight experiences.
Part of DAMF's mission is to bring living history to post Korean and Vietnam War generations through tours of its museum and flight experiences in its warbirds that span three wars.
The L-16 was used extensively in the Korean War as an observation/artillery spotter, general utility and rescue aircraft.
The L-19 was equally used extensively in the Vietnam War as a forward air controller, target acquisition, radio relay, convoy escort and artillery adjustment.
The L-16 and L-19 will be at the Ocean City Airport for public tours and flight experiences at 10 a.m., Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19.
To make reservations for the flight experiences, go to delawareaviationmuseum.org. Tours are available when the aircraft are between flights.
