William E. Martin, Rehoboth original

William “Bill” E. Martin, 73, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1950, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, son of the late Jack and Janet Martin.

Bill took great pride as the owner and operator of Martin Plumbing Inc., where he dedicated 38 years of his career. He was known for his exceptional skills and professionalism. Bill's values and commitment to his craft and customers earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Outside of work, Bill most valued the time he spent with his family and friends. He was enthusiastic about riding Harley motorcycles and was often seen cruising along the open road. Bill was also a member of various community organizations and actively participated in local events. He cherished his time outdoors, at the range, or on the beach, finding solace in the calming waves and warm sand. He was proud to have graduated among Rehoboth High School’s finest and the Class of 1969, and he loved to share stories of his hometown and the fun that was had. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and passion for life will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Ann Martin. He was a devoted husband to Cynthia Martin (Czerwinski), a caring father to Suzannah Frederick (Jack), Ed Martin (Melissa), and Emily Lehne (John), an adoring grandfather to Lina, Will, Meredith and James Frederick, and Holden, Kaylee, and Robert Lehne, brother to Mary Lee Martin and Robert “Bob” C. Martin (Mindy), and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Epworth Cemetery, Henlopen Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Prior to the service, friends and loved ones are invited to visit at noon, at Grove Park Pavilion.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bill’s memory and honor of his courageous fight against five primary cancers to Beebe Medical Foundation, Oncology Special Needs Fund, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE  19958 (Memo note: Oncology Special Needs Fund in Memory of William E.
