William Edward Truitt Jr., loved farming, animals
William "Eddie" Edward Truitt Jr., 68, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital, Sewell, N.J., after suffering a stroke. He was born in Lewes, son of the late William Edward Truitt Sr. and the late Alice Elizabeth Best Truitt.
Eddie worked beginning at an early age at Best Equipment Company in Lewes until its closing a few years ago. He was known for his ability to work as a mechanic on all types of farm machinery and small engines. In his spare time, he loved farming and worked for many of the local farmers in different capacities over the years. His love for animals was especially seen in his devotion to his many canine and feline friends.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Vignola Truitt; two sisters, Betty Reynolds of Milford, and Emily Derickson of Milton; nephews, Anthony Reynolds Jr. of Milford, and Chuck Derickson of Millsboro; niece, Celina McHugh of Milton; and many other grand-nieces and -nephews. He was also predeceased by a niece, Glori Davies.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where a viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
