William A. Reed Jr., loved fishing, motorcycles
William A. Reed Jr., a cherished individual who left a lasting impact on everyone he met, passed away peacefully Monday, May 27, 2024, in the same city that he called home for so many years. He was born Dec. 7, 1955, in Wilmington. William's journey through life was one marked by kindness, love, and thoughtfulness.
William was a proud graduate of the class of 1973, and he carried the lessons and friendships from those years throughout his life. He dedicated many years of service to Amtrak in Wilmington before moving to Rehoboth Beach in 1999, where he continued his career with DART as a street supervisor. His work ethic and commitment to his role were evident to all who worked alongside him.
An avid lover of fishing and motorcycles, William found joy and tranquility in these pursuits. His passion for the outdoors and the open road was infectious, and he often shared these experiences with friends and family.
William's legacy is carried on by his former spouse, J. Joanne Reed; stepchildren, Alicia and Christopher Cox; and his step-grandchildren, Ava and Braydon Cox. He also leaves behind his longtime friend, Vonda Lunsford. William was predeceased by his mother, Irene Mansfield; his brother, Michael Mansfield; and his Aunt Helen and Uncle Ed.
We remember William as a man who lived life fully, with a generous heart and a gentle spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
