William Samuel Lofland, owned Lofland’s Mobil
William “Bill” Samuel Lofland, 84, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Bill was born June 24, 1939, to Willis Marvel Lofland and Sophia Elizabeth Lofland in Quantico, Md.
Bill attended Lewes High School. He spent most of his career as owner/operator/mechanic at Lofland’s Mobil in Lewes. In 1954, Bill started dating Sue, and they were married March 17, 1962. They went on to have two children, Mary Fazio and Brenda Hudson.
He was predeceased by his parents; and five siblings, Willis Lofland, Ruth Card, Gary Lofland, Steve Lofland and Kenny Lofland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Sue” Lofland; his daughters, Mary Fazio (Pete) and Brenda Hudson (Keith); grandchildren, Katelyn Downs, Ryan Downs, Gabrielle Parks (Mike) and Leslie Fazio; four great-grandchildren; and his Redman family.
Bill loved his Phillies and Eagles. He was an avid trap shooter earlier in life and was on the Delaware state team many times. Bill also won many events. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved to garden, especially growing Early Girl tomatoes. The slots at Ocean Downs were a favorite. Bill never met a stranger and would talk to anyone about anything.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.
