Wingate appointed to Sussex planning and zoning commission
Sussex County Council, by a 4-1 vote, approved Holly Wingate as the newest member of the county planning and zoning commission.
A native of Selbyville, Wingate will begin a three-year appointment Sunday, July 1, as she will replace retiring commission Chair Martin Ross. Wingate was nominated by Fifth District Councilman Rob Arlett. Wingate has previously served as a member of Millville’s planning commission.
Wingate spent 30 years in the construction industry in various roles, handling accounting, payroll and managing construction projects. When asked by Arlett at council’s June 19 meeting whether she would have any conflicts of interest because of her previous experience in development, Wingate said she would not.
“Holly is a fantastic fit for the planning commission,” Arlett said. “She is active in her community, has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, and has served as a town official. I am excited to have Holly join us, and I look forward to her using her versatile talents to strengthen our community.”
Wingate received yes votes from Arlett and councilmen George Cole, Mike Vincent and I.G. Burton; Councilman Sam Wilson abstained from voting because he preferred to wait before taking a vote.
