Lewes Yacht Club hosted the Women’s Sunfish North American Championship and the T. Rowland Marshall Memorial Mobjack Championship Aug. 19 and 20.
Forty sailors from 14 states took part in the Sunfish regatta with Amanda Callahan of Bristol Yacht Club in Rhode Island taking top honors, winning four of six races. She was also the top masters sailor. Callahan is a sailing coach at Bristol College.
Six boats participated in the Mobjack Regatta, with skipper Mark Arnold and crew Matt Franks of Broad Bay Sailing Association in Virginia Beach, Va., winning the championship. The Lewes Yacht Club team of skipper Sarah Lester and crew Tony Ingram finished in second place, and the LYC team of skipper Paynt Ingram and crew Margaret Ingram finished fourth. Lewes sailors Jeff Futcher and Ben MacIntyre took third-place honors.
