Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes in March of 1970

Lloyd Teitsworth and Dee Andrews flew all over Delaware in March of 1970 taking aerial photographs of familiar landmarks. They made this photograph of the Zwaanendael Museum showing its location at the confluence of Kings Highway, Savannah Road and Third Street in downtown Lewes.

The Zwaanendael was constructed in 1930 and dedicated in 1931 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the landing of the Dutch in the location that eventually came to be known as Lewes.  The building’s architecture reflects the style of buildings in Hoorn, Holland at the time of the Dutch expansion into the New World.
