‘Gettysburg: One Woman's War’ dramatic reading set July 17

July 15, 2024

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library will host storyteller Michèle La Rue for a dramatized reading of "Gettysburg: One Woman's War” at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, in the upstairs meeting room at 226 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

This program will commemorate the Battle of Gettysburg with a fictionalized but historically accurate account of how the Civil War changed one woman's life forever.

Admission is free, but registration is required through the library calendar at delawarelibraries.libcal.com/event/11693658.

LaRue performs three selections from Elsie Singmaster’s “1913 Gettysburg: Stories of the Red Harvest and the Aftermath.” With townswoman Mary Bowman, viewers travel the emotional and physical terrain of 50 years – from the cannons’ first roar to the grief and devastation that follow, beyond to the promise of Lincoln’s visit and commemoration, to the healing only time can bring.
