Answer the question before it's asked

It's always better to get information out to the public early on.

Sussex County Council watchdog Dan Kramer brought that to the forefront when he addressed council during its March 31 meeting.

Kramer asked who paid the bill for assistant county attorney Vince Robertson to attend the March 18 League of Women Voters of Sussex County land forum. “Was it them or us the taxpayers?” he asked. “You better be billing the League of Women Voters.”

As it turns out, Robertson provided his services on the panel of experts for free. “I do outreach for Sussex County, and I don't bill the county,” he said after Kramer posed the question.

In the spirit of transparency, it might be wise to state up front who is paying for what at functions like these.
