Cape Region Barns 101

The unfortunate loss of the historic Otis Smith barn to arson created confusion for many people who thought it was the other large barn in Lewes that was destroyed. Don't worry. The iconic Townsend barn along Kings Highway is still standing.

It's understandable that we get barns confused because some look similar. Hopefully this posting of area barns will enlighten you. It also illustrates the sad fate awaiting many of Sussex County's once fine agricultural landmarks.
