The CURE is in the Kitchen Not on the Moon

I have written letters and emails to Vice President Biden regarding his moon-shot to end Cancer, but I have no assurance that my communications have reached him. So this time, I am sending my message via a time honored wisdom tale—a tale that may make all of us think twice about the whereabouts of the “treasure” we seek.

Once upon a time a poor old man had a vivid recurring dream in which he saw a bridge in a distant city with a treasure buried beneath it.  He was so determined to find the treasure for himself that he walked the long distance over many days.  When he finally arrived at the city of his dream, he recognized the bridge and went underneath to locate the treasure. But suddenly a soldier grabbed him and demanded to know why he was prowling under the bridge. In fear, the old man blurted out he was looking for treasure he had imagined in a dream. Impulsively, the soldier broke into laughter and scoffed, “You stupid old man! Don’t you know you can’t trust what you see in your dreams?  Why, for the last 2 weeks I myself have dreamt that in a far away village, in the house of a poor old man, there is a treasure buried under the stove in his kitchen.  But wouldn’t it be the most idiotic thing in the world if I were to go all the way there to look for it?”  Still laughing, the soldier gave him a kick and let him go. Then the old man walked back to his very own home in his far away village where he moved the stove in his kitchen, found the treasure buried there and lived to a ripe old age as a very rich man.

So--the treasure was at home all along, in the kitchen, right under the old man’s nose!  But the knowledge of it was far away in a distant place.  Sometimes we have to make a long arduous journey before we discover the treasure in our midst.

A handful of doctors and scientists have been telling us for decades that the CURE for Cancer is right in the kitchen, right under our noses in the fruits and vegetables, grains and legumes we eat.  But the Cancer Bureaucracy scoffs and kicks those “dreamers” away while pushing another pill, another surgery, another treatment, another genetic discovery.

Our Vice President has a choice—he can shoot for the moon and hope for the best or he can look in his own kitchen and let the “dreamers” be his guide.  (See photo below of 4 extraordinary books any one of which serves as guide to the CURE:  THE CHINA STUDY by T.
