Summer League Opening Week, June 15, 2015
The senior division opened play with Aphrodith defeating Demeter by a final of 2-0. Maci Long scored the game winner at 2:45 of the first half before Jazmyne Marino scored the insurance goal at 8:20 in the second half. Goalies were Marlee Geppert and Cassidy Best.
In the second game of the evening, Hera defeated Venus by a score of 4-1. Madi Irwin gave Venus the early lead with her goal at 15#0 of the first half, but Lexi Woodruff pulled Hera into a tie at 9:19. Abi Kane earned the game winner with her goal at 3:40, also in the opening half. Lola Messick and Woodruff finished out the scoring with the goals in the second half.
On night two of the opening week, Demeter earned a 4-1 win over Athena. Madi Cook (2), Maggie Mitchell, and Paige Ludwicki had the goals for Demeter while Anna Stancofski had the solo score for Athena.
In game two, Aphrodith and Venus played to a 1-1 result. Marissa LeGates had the goal for Aphrodith and Taylor Smith had the score for Venus.
Elementary Division
Monday:
Madison Short’s goal gave Hemera the win over Gaia in the opening game of the season. In the second game of the night, Iris and Chloris played to a 0-0 result.
On Wednesday night, Gaia recovered to earn a 1-0 win over Auri when Puja Jani put the ball in the cage for Gaia. Hemera tied Iris at 0-0 to conclude play in week one.
The league games continue on Monday, June 22 with games beginning at 5:30 on the Bermuda at Cape Henlopen HS.
