Summer League Week Five, July 16, 2015
Elementary Division
The week opened with Auri and Iris playing to a 0-0 tie in the first game of the evening. Hemera defeated Chloris by a final of 5-0 and clinched the championship. Madi Short scored the only goal in the first half of play and then Grace Wiggins earned the hat trick with her 3-goal effort. Makenzie Ridenour finished out the scoring with her solo effort late in the half.
The final night of games were ‘wetted out’ by soggy fields.
The leading scorer is the elementary division for the Season was Grace Wiggins with five goals

Senior Division
Athena and Venus played to a 2-2 result on Monday with all the scoring coming in the second half. Madi Irwin put Venus in the first lead off an assist from Lexi Gooch. Then LeeLee Wilson scored to tie the game at 7:59 but Gooch tallied (assist by Irwin) to get the lead back for Venus before Katie Shockley scored with 1:57 remaining to earn the tie.
Aphrodith defeated Hera by a final of 5-2 and clinched their spot in the championship game. Jazmyne Marino (2), Sydney Ostroski, Amanda Sponaugle, and Lisa Williams had the goals for Aphrodith while Carly Dmiterchik and Lindsay Williams did the scoring for Hera.
On the final night of play in the regular season, Demeter defeated Hera by a final of 3-1. Rylee Pettyjohn and Candace Gaull had first half goals for Demeter before Kay Cordrey scored for Hera early in the second half to make it a close game. Pettyjohn scored with 8:54 remaining to seal the victory.
Aphrodith continued their winning week with a 3-1 win over Athena. Maci Long and Jazmyne Marino (2) had the goals for the winners and Alexa Hendrickson had the goal for Athena.
The championship game between Hera and Aphrodith will be played on Monday, July 20 with a start time of 7:10. The game will be played in Champions Stadium at Cape Henlopen HS.
Jazmyne Marino and Madi Irwin were the leading scorers in the league with 5 goals each.
