Opening Night of Indoor 2017
The 2017 Delaware Shore Indoor League began play this past Sunday with games in all three divisions: Elementary, Senior, and Adult.
Elementary Division
The Cardinals defeated the Eagles by a final 2-0 with goals scored by Alexandra Ellis (at 19:00) and Catherine Peranteau (at 18:00). In the second game in the division, the Skins defeated the Ravens on the three-goal hat trick by Hannah Schaeffer. Next Sunday’s game will feature the Skins vs the Eagles at 12:30 followed by the Cardinals and Ravens at 1:00.
Senior Division
In an exciting game Team Ciabattoni tied Team Dawson by a final of 3-3. Elise Westbrook gave the early lead to the Dawson’s but Madeline Pepper, Rilyn Lehman and Emma Lehman put the Ciabattoni’s into the lead with 10 minutes remaining. Emma Westbrook scored at 4:42 to pull the Dawson’s closer before Lyndsey Smailer earned the tie with her goal at 1:30. In the second game between Team Dorman and Team Sekscinski things were looking to finish in a tie after Grace Hudson scored (1:50) for the Sekscinski’s to even the game after Emma Moore had given the Dorman’s the lead at 23:30. Moore’s second goal with 48 seconds pulled out the win for the Dorman’s. In the final game for the division, Team Sabbagh defeated Team Duffield 4-0. Lori Sapp had a pair of the goals at 18:40 and 16:50 followed by a Samantha Connors’ goal at 10:00 and Josephine Peranteau finished it out with her goal at 6:30.
The upcoming games on Sunday have Dorman vs Duffield at 1:30, Sekscinski vs Ciabattoni at 2:00 and Dawson vs Sabbagh at 2:30.
Adult Division
The A2’s dominated the A1’s by a final of 6-1. Sarah Mushrush exploded with 4 goals and her teammate, Lisa Williams had the other two for the A2’s. Jodie Daminger had the A1’s goal. In the final game of the evening, the A4’s defeated the A3’s 4-1. Maci Long had the solo goal for the A3’s while Madi Irwin and Caroline Judge both tallied pairs of goals for the victors. Next Sunday’s schedule has A2’s vs A4 at 3:00 followed by A1’s vs A3’s at 3:30.
