Happy Friday droolers! I don't know about you, but this week was an exhausting one for me.
It feels like a race to Labor Day - and I certainly can't wait for a slower pace.
This week, Droolface is walking more, but at the same time he is feeling very unsure of himself, which means a needy baby. Part of it could be that his parents have been really busy this week, but it's also that when babies are learning new tricks, they go through a period of self doubt.
The best way to curb this and make everyone happy is to give the baby a little more attention.
This doesn't mean dropping everything to sit with Droolface though.
Wednesday night, the house really needed to be cleaned. I am not usually one to let it get away from me, but let me just say, it was quite a mess. Since Droolface didn't want to play by himself, I wrapped him up in a sling, deposited him on my back and went about cleaning.
Let me just say this - cleaning with a 24-pound baby on your back is certainly a workout.
By the time I had cleaned three rooms from top to bottom, I had worked up quite a sweat. Meanwhile, Droolface had a blast. It was a win-win. Next time you think you can't clean because of whatever reason, just remember you can always put that baby in a sling and rock the vacuum. And, get some exercise too.
Tonight, I tackle the kitchen - wish me luck!
Keeping on the roll of quality smoothie recipes, here's the one I made this morning for the Mavity family.
Flax peanut butter smoothie
You will need:
• 1/4 cup or less flaxseed, freshly ground
• 2 TB organic peanut butter
• 1 cup ice
• 2 apples, diced
• 1/2 cup orange juice
• 1/2 cup mandarin oranges in juice
• 1-2 containers of yogurt (any variety; I used strawberry Activia)
Place all ingredients in a blender - with the ice at the bottom. Blend on high for about a minute. Serve and enjoy immediately.
The flaxseed provides Omega 3, fiber and lignans, which has antioxidant qualities. Studies have shown flaxseed can reduce the risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Pair that with some peanut butter, which also provides protein to keep you fuller longer, and some fruit and you've got a healthy combination!
Have a great weekend droolers!
