While walking is good exercise, going up the stairs is even better.
Everyone has stairs for the most part - or has access to a flight of stairs. In reality you don't even need that many stairs; three will do in most cases.
Standing at the bottom, step up one step with your left leg, then in a smooth motion, bring your right knee up to chest-level, hold for a second, then put it back on the bottom. Step your left leg back to the bottom step as well - this is one count. Repeat alternating legs for ten repetitions on each leg.
This exercise works your legs, thighs and butt. It also helps regain balance after pregnancy.
Right after I had Droolface, I was really unbalanced physically. I often ran into things or stumbled a bit. I think my body was trying to figure out how not to be pregnant. Doing stair exercises and balance exercises several times a week helped me regain some balance (I've never been very balanced to begin with).
Running up and down stairs is another great exercise. It gets your heart rate up and burns calories. Instead of trudging upstairs slowly to get yet another basket of dirty laundry, try running up the stairs.
Small adjustments to your day could make all the difference when it comes to fitness.
Next time you are faced with the option of stairs or elevator - take the stairs - your skinny jeans will thank you.
Have a great weekend! See you Monday for another drool-filled blog.
