As John F. Kennedy had Marilyn Monroe sing "Happy Birthday" to him, so will Ilmi Anderson be serenaded by Georgetown songstress Cathy Gorman. Known as Sussex County’s Sweetheart of Song, Gorman will entertain at the Minner Windsor Women’s History Birthday Bash set for 6 p.m., Saturday, March 26, at Sussex Pines Country Club near Georgetown.

Anderson, 96, is an original Rosie the Riveter, who was among the thousands of women during World War II who joined the war effort at home by building airplanes and guns while their husbands and brothers went overseas to fight. Anderson says that at the time they didn’t think they were making a statement, they were just doing what had to be done.

Tickets are $35 per person. To make reservations, mail a check to the Sussex County Women’s Democrat Club, 21833 Hickory Drive, Georgetown, DE 19947. For more information, call 302-604-1047.
